Mars is the fourth planet of the solar system and the first of the outer planets, its orbit around the sun has a duration of 687 days and its period of rotation is 24h and 39 min. Due to the great eccentricity of its orbit the angular dimension of Mars varies approximately between 3 and 25 arcseconds. This planet is a fascinating target for the astrophotographer, with all the different albedo marks on its surface and the constant possibility of detecting dust storms that can reach global proportions.
