Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in the solar system with an approximate equatorial diameter of 143,000 km (11.2 times the Earth's diameter) which translates into an average angular dimension of 40 arc seconds (ranges from 30 to 50). It has an orbital period of 11.8 years and performs a complete rotation on itself in just 9.9h. Due to the incredible dynamics of its atmosphere and the constant dance of its satellites, Jupiter is the favorite target of any planetary astrophotographer.
